There is an organization in Brevard County, Florida, that is making a difference in the lives of women and men battling
breast cancer. The
3Day Dancers Breast Cancer Walk and Support Team is one truly amazing group of individual women who have bonded to effect a positive change for the betterment of all. They call themselves "Dancers" because they will dance for joy the day the cure for breast cancer is found.
Founded by team captain, JeanMarie, the "Dancers" walk thousands of miles promoting breast cancer awareness in cities across the United States and Canada. When asked why they do this, they respond, "because we can, because every life is precious and every man and woman diagnosed with breast cancer deserves to live a full life".
What is more amazing than the amount of walking these ladies do, is their philanthropic focus for supporting women in treatment. They provide assistance, FREE of charge, to help with daily living activities for patients battling breast cancer.
When a young mother of 29 has had a radical mastectomy, and is currently receiving chemo and radiation treatments, taking care of a household and small children can be beyond her capabilities. This is where the "Dancers" step in. They provide assistance with housework, laundry, meal preparation, child care, transportation, shopping and more. They help keep the household running, the family on an even keel; and they do it without any compensation.
Many people are unaware that one in every eight women will be diagnosed with some form of breast cancer in her lifetime. Men are not immune, and over 2000 men in the USA are diagnosed every year. With these types of statistics, it is great to know that there are people like the
3Day Dancers who are offering a helping hand. As they'll happily tell you, "that's what it's all about, people caring about people enough to do something, not for personal gain, just because it's the right thing to do".
